Does changing adapter in Safe mode solve the problem?
Action:
1) Shut down and restart Windows in Safe Mode:
a) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu and select 'Shut Down...'. (The 'Shut Down Windows' dialog box appears.)
b) Select the 'Restart the computer?' radio button, and click 'Yes'.
c) When 'Starting Windows 95' text appears, press F8.
d) Select 'Safe Mode'.
2) Install the new adapter:
a) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
b) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'. (The 'Control Panel' window appears.)
